As it was mentioned the other day, Google have been working on a re-brand for their wearable OS commonly known as Android Wear. The problem with that name is it made the assumption it would only work with Android devices, when the watches are more than capable of being used by iPhone owners. Its now re-branded to Wear OS.
Wear OS also comes with a new logo, typically Google with primary colours and geometric shapes, love it or hate it, that’s what they’ve decided on. Hopefully its not just a re-brand of name, and we’ll start to see a stronger push on features and watch designs to go with it. Personally I hope they allow more control over what apps are installed on the watches, as I don’t tend to like the bloatware some manufacturers are forcing in.
No news yet when we will see this brand change added to existing watches through a software update, or if it will be reserved for new watches only. Check out the product page at Google here. “Watch” this space……sorry.
